Dance, Magic Dance Your Way to ‘Labyrinth’ in Concert

Sure, you’ve watched Labyrinth many, many times—maybe even on the big screen. But the movie’s 40th anniversary year just got another whole new element (and no, it’s not that Robert Eggers remake, though we are sure curious to see if that ever happens). “Jim Henson’s Labyrinth: In Concert,” which already had a successful international run, will embark on a 60-city North American tour this fall.

Goblin City comes alive with a live band and a giant HD screen sharing the much-loved 1986 movie, which stars a teenage Jennifer Connelly as a repentant babysitter who must plunge into a fantastical realm when her baby brother is snatched by David Bowie’s goblins.

Bowie’s musical stylings in the film will be a key part of the show, as a press release affirms the band will perform “the full soundtrack in sync with Bowie’s unforgettable original vocals,” because nobody else could bring “Magic Dance” to life the same way the legendary entertainer could. (That said, you can assume there’ll be a fair amount of singing along from the audience.) Trevor Jones’ score will no doubt also get plenty of shine as part of the performance.

The tour starts September 14 in Buffalo, NY, and continues across the country through November 24. Tickets are about to become available, however, with presales starting January 15 and general sales January 16. Learn all the details at the official website, www.labyrinthinconcert.com. Will you be digging out your ball gown and/or codpiece and checking out the show?
