As much as we’d love to see a Star Wars movie that just stars Ryan Gosling, Star Wars: Starfighter was never going to be that. He needs co-stars, aliens, droids, and now the very first of those may have come into view.
The InSneider reports, and io9 has confirmed, that Mia Goth, the actress best known for her roles in Pearl, X, and MaXXXine, who’ll soon appear Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein and Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, has been cast in the film. No word on what the role is, but reporter Jeff Sneider writes it is the same one Anora-star and Oscar-winner Mikey Madison was circling before moving along.
Levy has been attached to Star Wars since 2022, while he was still working on what would eventually become the billion-dollar hit Deadpool & Wolverine. Things went relatively quiet after that as he was finishing his Marvel movie, and Jonathan Tropper (who worked with Levy on The Adam Project) began writing the script. Then, earlier this year, Gosling was attached to the project before Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy suggested it would be the next film to hit theaters after The Mandalorian & Grogu. Finally, at Star Wars Celebration Japan, we got the official title and announcement.
Goth has been acting since 2013, working with some of the most interesting filmmakers in the business. Her most commerical role, however, came in 2022’s X from Ti West, where she played a adult film actress who survives a horrible series of murders. That film was followed by Pearl and MaXXXine, meaning that Goth now had her own franchise and trilogy. Hollywood took notice and, in recent years, she’s upped her game even more, working on Frankenstein, The Odyssey and now, Star Wars.
