Alfredo Sauce distributed in 41 states and produced by the Coffee Connexion Co. has been recalled over fears of Salmonella contamination, according to a notice from the Food and Drug Administration. It’s just the latest product to be impacted by a massive recall on powdered milk and buttermilk, which has hit everything from frozen pizza to potato chips.
It’s unclear if any illnesses have been reported related to the recall of alfredo sauce and the FDA’s online notice notes that a press release was not issued in conjunction with this voluntary recall.
The alfredo sauce recall involves 913 cases with “best by” dates between Jan. 2028 and April 2028.
On April 20, 2026, a recall was first issued by California Dairies Inc. because there were concerns that powdered milk and buttermilk distributed to manufacturers around the country had been contaminated with Salmonella. The recall was elevated to a Class I event on June 1, the most serious category because it can result in severe illness or death.
The recall has hit a surprisingly wide range of products that are produced using powdered milk, including Williams Sonoma’s Fireworks Popcorn, Giant Eagle Pita Chips, and Zapp’s Dirty potato chips.
As more products get recalled, the FDA has been slow to update its website. The main page that lists products involved in the powdered milk recall hasn’t been updated in over two weeks, and is missing foods like Kroger Homestyle Cheese Garlic Croutons and several frozen pizza brands identified as part of the recall by the USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS).

Given the scope of the recall, it’s entirely possible there are more products that will be impacted, and it’s unclear why agencies like FDA have been slow to update their websites with the latest information on this recall. Keep in mind, though, that Elon Musk’s so-called Department of Government Efficiency decimated staffing at federal agencies last year, purging expertise and the people needed to keep the U.S. food supply safe. More than 350,000 federal workers have left or been fired since the start of President Trump’s second term, according to CNN.
The Trump regime sometimes defended the cuts by insisting that FDA health inspectors very specifically weren’t fired, ignoring the fact that purging support staff reduces the ability of health inspectors and other employees to do their work efficiently. If the people who book travel or do administrative work for health inspectors are gone, that labor falls on the health inspectors themselves who have less time to actually do inspections.
Consumers are encouraged not to eat any products involved in this recall and contact the store where it was purchased about a possible refund.
