Autosport's team of expert journalists got together to try to assess who were the top 50 drivers of 2025. Here are the results.
Until this season, Nico Hulkenberg was the owner of one of F1’s least-coveted records: the most grand prix starts without finishing on the podium. Now a veteran aged 38, the German has always deserved better than this but is one of those drivers whose moves have taken him to the wrong teams at the wrong time.
He was brought in to Sauber to underpin the team’s transition to Audi ownership and made the best of a car that was only sporadically competitive. He judged changing conditions at Silverstone perfectly to grab that much-awaited podium – and hand the record back to Adrian Sutil.
