In episode five of the ‘My Favourite F1 Season’ series on the Autosport Retro Podcast, Editor-In-Chief Kevin Turner sits down with reporter Stuart Codling to discuss the 1976 campaign.

It is arguably one of the most famous F1 seasons of all time, so much so that is was later adapted into a blockbuster film portraying the legendary title fight between Niki Lauda and James Hunt.

The crown eventually went the way of Hunt, who beat the reigning champion to his one and only F1 title. But it didn’t come without horror, as Lauda’s accident at the Nordschleife which nearly claimed his life is discussed in the podcast.

All the elements of Hunt and Lauda’s fight is described in detail, as well as the Autosport and Auto Course Top 10 driver rankings that year, plus other stories like Ronnie Peterson’s victory at Monza and Jody Scheckter’s campaign.
