Software-update: Unraid 7.1.0

Storage and Networking Updates
  • Import ZFS pools from other platforms including TrueNAS, Proxmox, QNAP, and Ubuntu
  • Improved mover behavior
  • Fixes for ZFS and btrfs device removal and replacement
  • Improved DHCP handling
  • Wireless Networking

Unraid now supports wireless networking. While wired Ethernet is still recommended, WiFi adds flexibility for compact builds, mobile deployments, and environments without easy access to wired connections like dorm rooms, rentals, and apartments. Key features:

  • Connect via WiFi from the Network Settings → Wireless wlan0 menu
  • Manual or automatic regulatory region selection
  • Support for modern USB WiFi adapters using Linux in-kernel drivers
  • Improved compatibility with Docker and WireGuard over wireless connections
  • VM Manager and Virtualization Improvements

Managing VMs is now easier and more efficient with many new options and fixes.

  • User VM Templates: Save and reuse your own VM configurations for faster, repeatable setup
  • Optional CPU Pinning: CPU pinning is no longer required; the OS will manage core assignment automatically
  • XML View Fixes: Adjusting VM icons and editing from XML view is now more stable
  • VirGL allows you to share Intel and AMD GPUs (and now Nvidia GPUs via Nouveau) between multiple Linux VMs simultaneously and provide OpenGL accelerated graphics.
  • QXL Virtual GPUs: QXL is a high-performance virtual GPU option that is ideal for running lightweight desktop environments, testing Linux builds, or spinning up multiple VMs with shared graphics.
  • Boot into GUI Mode: VMs using the QXL video driver can now boot directly into a graphical desktop environment
  • A number of refinements make the web interface faster, more responsive, and more stable.

    Updated CSS for future responsiveness
  • Reworked underlying CSS as part of ongoing responsiveness work
  • Minor visual changes (e.g., color adjustments)
  • Most plugins should remain compatible
  • Plugin developers can review updated styling docs
  • Improved handling of nchan issues
  • Added automatic nginx restarts when this error is detected
  • Dashboard and Main pages now auto-reload when brought into focus
  • Unraid 7.1 also includes a range of fixes and polish across various system components:

  • New Firefox version:Firefox 128.10 is now bundled via AppImage
