For anyone who’s wanted to see Chris Pratt in theaters again, but as a real person instead of a CG plumber or cat, you’re in luck: his next movie, Mercy, is hitting on January 23, 2026.
Per Deadline, Amazon’s opted to move the sci-fi thriller out of its original August 15, 2025 spot, where it would’ve been fighting for attention with Nobody 2. The delay now gives it a weekend all to itself, albeit one just a week after 28 Days Later: The Bone Temple, Warner Bros.’ Weapons, and an unknown Disney movie all open. But since Amazon’s more focused on how its movies land on Prime Video rather than theaters, you could argue it doesn’t matter where Mercy goes in the theatrical slate.
Directed by Timur Bekmambetov of Wanted and Abraham Lincoln, Vampire Hunter fame, Pratt plays a detective living in a near-future where capital crime has increased. After being accused of a crime himself, he goes on the run and is forced to prove his innocence before the other police taken him down. Mercy’s cast is fairly stacked all around: along with Pratt, it’s got Rebecca Ferguson (Dune), True Detective: Night Country’s Kali Reis, Annabelle Wallis (Malignant), Kenneth Choi (9-1-1), and Chris Sullivan (Presence).
So, Mercy: January 23, 2026 in theaters. But if you don’t want to wait that long for a new Chris Pratt movie, he’ll be starring in The Electric State, which hits Netflix March 14.
