Top 50 Drivers of 2024

Autosport's team of expert journalists got together to try to assess who were the top 50 drivers of 2024. Here are the results.

Pato O’Ward was at the centre of drama both on and off the track in 2024.

While his popularity was called into question by Penske Entertainment CEO Mark Miles, the Mexican bounced back from a winless 2023 by gathering a career-best three victories (tied for most in IndyCar) and came within two corners of capturing the Indy 500.

The Arrow McLaren driver outfought champion Alex Palou to triumph on the hybrid engine’s mid-season debut at Mid-Ohio and won the first IndyCar race at Milwaukee since 2015, but random mechanical mishaps again plagued his chances of a truly special season.

When the mid-season arrival of hybrid evened out the playing field at Mid-Ohio, O'Ward impressively won - he triumphed on a street course, road course and an oval in 2024
