Untitled Alfonso Cuaron Horror Project

In conversation with Deadline, Alfonso Cuaron revealed he’s been  developing a horror film but “somehow, it doesn’t fully work.”

My aspiration is to one day do a horror film. I love Rosemary’s Baby, and the other Polanski films, and films like The Babadook. They’re so grounded in reality and in character so I love those. As a spectator, I have a wider taste but anything I feel I could do would need to be more grounded. I’ve been trying to write something like that, but somehow, it doesn’t fully work.

Spookies 2

During a recent episode of The Barrens Hideout Podcast (via Bloody-Disgusting) Frank Farel, co-writer of the famously troubled 1987 horror film, Spookies, revealed he’s now working on a sequel.

Remarkably, [Spookies] has done well enough in its revival that I’m at the start of raising financing for a sequel. I’m hoping to get a couple of name horror actors into it. I’m also looking to make a film that is almost an anti-sequel. I don’t just want to rehash what was done the first time.

I don’t want to even make a typical sequel. I want to make something that’s an animal of its own. It’s different in so many ways. The way I’m doing it, it’s almost intended as a mockery of what happened to our original film.

To tell the truth, I hated it. I hated what had been done to the film. It was not our film. It was sort of taken apart and reassembled. It was just not the film we had made. We did not like anything about what was done to it. However, Vinegar Syndrome brought it to Blu-ray, and suddenly the fans took to it.

Superman

During a recent Q&A on Threads (via Comic Book), James Gunn stated his Superman likely won’t need reshoots.

Over-prepare. Don’t start shooting until I have a finished script my whole team is happy with. Hire actors and department heads I know can do their jobs. Surround myself with people who will challenge me and not just yes-sir everything. Ask myself daily – are there any small imperfections in the script or what we’re shooting that might end up feeling like huge imperfections when we cut the film together.
