The upcoming Google Pixel hardware slate has already been leaked to hell and back. That won’t stop the Mountain View tech giant from trying to make a splash during its annual Made by Google hardware event set to drop on Tuesday. Pixel fans can expect bigger phones, bigger (and thinner) foldable phones, bigger watches, but—thankfully—smaller Pixel Buds. Most of all, the event promises a pixie-pink Pixel.
The livestream on YouTube is already up and running, though you’ll need to wait until early afternoon ET time to see things get rolling. Google has been known to take its time getting to the good stuff at its events, so you may need to buckle up and wait through a long explainer of all the anticipated Gemini AI integration with its late summer product lineup.
Made by Google, it will stream on Tuesday, Aug. 13, at 1 p.m. ET or 10 a.m. PT. There will also be an in-person event at the company’s Mountain View, California headquarters. The live stream should be enough for most folks, but if you’re so jonesing to preorder, you could look to the Google Store page for a second-by-second countdown and teasers for the Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro Fold.
Of course, you should check out our coverage here at Gizmodo. If you’re not keen on watching a whole hour-long stream, we’ll bring you some highlights from the event afterward.
As always, Google is hosting its post-stream “After Party” at 2:30 p.m. ET and 11:30 a.m. PT. Expect more about Google Home integration with its new Pixel products, such as the recently announced Google TV Streamer and Google Nest Learning Thermostat.
Enough about this hardware event has been leaked, and we already know quite a bit about what to expect. This year’s slate will introduce two Pixel 9 Pro models, one of which is reportedly dubbed Pixel 9 Pro XL. As the name suggests, this should have a larger display than the other two phones, though current rumors hint it should have the same specs as the smaller Pro. Other anticipated enhancements are in store, including updated camera capabilities and Magic Editor AI-centric photo editing.
The sequel to last year’s Pixel Fold will look very different than before. Photos posted by Google show that the new device has a completely remodeled hinge. It’s supposed to be thinner, and it has a more traditional phone shape and size compared to the squat body of last year’s Pixel Fold.
Leaks have already offered a good idea of what to expect from a Pixel Watch 3 and Pixel Buds Pro 2. According to Android Authority, the Watch 3 is supposed to get more screen real estate with smaller bezels. Rumors hint that the new watch will have a choice of 41 mm or 45 mm watch faces (the larger comes with more battery), plus support for UWB and Google’s new Find My Network. The buds may have quite a different look from before, according to leaked images from Android Headlines. We’ll have to see if they’re any more comfortable than they were before.
