Last month, Samsung had to halt sales of its Galaxy Buds 3 Pro when buyers started to complain about numerous manufacturing issues. According to Reddit threads spotted by 9to5Google, the issues have been fixed and sales have resumed.
Samsung released its flagship Galaxy Buds 3 series, at its pretty packed Samsung Unpacked event in July which consisted of a base model, the Buds 3, and a premium offering, the Buds 3 Pro. Just a few weeks after launch, the complaints started rolling in. According to a Reddit thread, one of the most renowned tech reviewers in South Korea, ITSubtitles, purchased ten Galaxy Buds 3 Pros from different suppliers including Coupang, Naver, Samsung, etc., to look for quality control issues.
He went over all of their issues in a YouTube video, and the Reddit thread translates and summarizes them. Allegedly, there were stains of blue dye on the buds’ surface. Some buds weren’t sitting right in their cases. The uneven docking can probably be attributed to the rough edges that were found on some units. Some parts of the body looked abruptly cut off and the contours weren’t smooth enough. The ear tips were also called out for easily tearing when you’d try to replace them and the charging cases were called into question for having a part of their paint peeling off.
9to5Google came across multiple users on Reddit who posted photos of their recent Buds 3 Pro orders and seemed content with the units they received this time. Based on the feedback seen on Reddit so far, it looks like Samsung resolved issues on its end before resuming sales. We have reached out to Samsung for comment and will update this story as soon as we receive a response.
Sonos has found itself in a similar situation with two of its product launches. The companion app for Sonos has never been the most intuitive, but a recent update issued two months ago made it even more unusable than usual. CEO Patrick Spence apologized for the experience and has promised to work on it before the company launches what will probably be a successor to its Arc soundbar and a set-top box as reported by Bloomberg.
