Breaking news AT&T and Verizon are suffering an outage right now across the United States.
If you're wondering why you're unable to text, call, or get through to the internet using either of those networks, or struggling to get hold of those using them, now you know why.
DownDetector shows an explosion of complaints about AT&T and Verizon from netizens starting about 1000 PT and escalating throughout the day.
Connectivity appears to be sporadic: Some customers aren't affected, some are. Some have said restarting their devices has kick their service back into life. Folks in New York City, Chicago, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Dallas, and Indianapolis have reported problems with both AT&T and Verizon.
AT&T indicated there is some kind of "nationwide issue" preventing subscribers from connecting to users of other networks. "The carriers are working as quickly as possible to diagnose and resolve the issue," AT&T said in a statement.
