It seems like not as many people took the chance to see The Marvels in theaters as Disney and Marvel may have liked, given how the studio quietly stopped publicly updating its box office and then very publicly decided on who it could blame for that. But now, people will get a chance to see what Carol, Monica, and Kamala were up to when the film begins its home release next week.
Disney has now announced that The Marvels will release digitally on January 16, ahead of a physical disc release on 4K UHD, Blu-Ray, and DVD a month later on February 13. The film will also get a steelbook release that, naturally, leans in on one of the film’s best moments: a litter of flerken kittens running amok.
The release will include an audio commentary from director Nia DaCosta, who Disney spent several weeks throwing under the proverbial bus after The Marvels failed to meet Marvel Studios box office expectations, alongside VFX Supervisor Tara DeMarco, as well as behind-the-scenes featurettes, a gag reel, and four deleted scenes. There’s no word just yet on when The Marvels is expected to hit Disney+, but for now at least some people who missed out on the film this past summer will now get a chance to check it out from the comfort of their own homes.
