November's Lego Releases Are a One-Hit Mario Wonder

Lego’s monthly releases always wax and wane, and November is certainly one of the most waning months we’ve had in a while. With the seasonal sets already announced last month, and an eye toward the end-of-month of deals, this month is so far very, very light.

In fact, there’s just one new set on the docket so far—the latest Mario collaboration with Nintendo. Focused on adult collectors compared to the interactive “courses” that have dominated the Mario Lego releases, we’re getting the next character in the line in the form of the humble Piranha Plant.

But while that’s it for now, November is usually a big month for Lego in other ways—most notably its Black Friday sales, which usually herald the launch of another major set, just in time for the holiday shopping season. Click through for more on what to expect from Lego this month!

Okay, so this isn’t a new set you can straight up buy, but Lego’s latest “Gift With Purchase” offer is tempting for anyone looking to drop money on a few sets (or a large one) this month. Spend more than $130 on any Lego between November 1 and November 16 to get the 307-piece set for “free,” which recreates the famed astronomer’s workshop, complete with a telescope and heliocentric model. Lego usually debuts a few bonus gift with purchase sets during this weekend—traditionally themed around Christmas, as well as bonus VIP points on purchases for members of the Insider program. Which is good, because shortly after...

Not only are there usually plenty of deals on current sets, and more chances to get some of the previous weekend’s Insider program bonuses, Lego always uses Black Friday to release a major surprise set—last year saw the Eiffel Tower threaten to dominate living rooms over the holidays, while 2021 saw Star Wars fans march on Echo Base with the might of the UCS Imperial AT-AT. So expect something big: rumors have been swirling about a potential Marvel set, but nothing is certain yet.

Meanwhile, if there’s nothing current you want to order, the bonuses for these weekends will also work on upcoming sets that are already up for preorder—so if you’re eying that Dune ornithopter and its Long Baron minifigure, you might want to hold off and grab it during one of these weekends for the additional points and goodies, even if it’s not out until early next year.
