The Eisner Awards, one of the most prestigious comic awards currently awarded in the United States, has announced its 2023 nominees. Much like last year, Image and DC publishing once again netted the most nominations, but this year Image has more nods: 20 (plus six shared) and DC with 11 (plus five shared). While the award is given out at San Diego Comic-Con, people and art from across the world are represented.
Image has nominations in a wide span of work, including multiple nominations for titles like Clementine, The Department of Truth, It’s Lonely at the Centre of the Earth, Killadelphia, Monstress, and Rain. DC’s standout nominees are from Human Target and Nightwing, which both received three nominations each. Other publishers with a standout showing include Fantagraphics (13 nominations), Marvel Comics (nine nominations, plus three shared), and Dark Horse (nine nominations, plus two shared).
This year’s Eisner Award nominees are sorted into 32 categories, recognizing the accomplishments and highlighting around 150 print and online titles from over 50 publishers. See the full list of nominees below.
